Frequently Asked Questions
“I’d love to have photos, but the thought of being in front of the camera makes me feel uncomfortable”
Firstly, I completely understand. Secondly, 99% of women feel this way, your feelings are valid and normal. It’s my job to put you at ease, and capture the soft moments in-between, whenever they appear.
This is why I love to capture mothers in their own homes, or special places. It’s where we let our guards down, it’s where we’re most relaxed, and it’s where most of our most treasured memories take place.
Remember there’s no need to pose, we’re capturing the everyday. Your morning rituals, feeds, cuddles, and sometimes tantrums too!
And, if we begin to shoot and your unpredictable hormones get the better of you and you decide this just isn’t for you, that’s ok. We’ll sit down, have a cup of tea, discuss the challenges of motherhood, and I’ll be on my way. I’ll pop round another time, or we’ll refund your payment. Easy.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Byron Bay, and primarily shoot within the Byronshire. However I’m happy to travel within 45 mins for a small fee, or if you’re based further away please reach out for my travel dates - I am currently booking weekend pop-ups in the Gold Coast, Sydney and Brisbane.
When will I get my photos?
You will be sent a link to download your photos digitally within 2 weeks of your shoot date.
Do you only shoot with film?
Yes, I shoot exclusively with film. The slow, intentional pace is how I like to create, and the nostalgic aesthetic translates so beautifully to family photography. All images here on my website, and on my Instagram have been taken on film.
When is the best time to book a maternity session?
I recommend booking your session for when you’re between 27-34 weeks. By this stage many mothers-to-be are deeply connected to experience of pregnancy and that emotional presence really shines through in photos. Booking your session before week 35+ means you should still feel relatively comfortable.
What is the best time of day to shoot?
I love to shoot in the mornings, there’s something slow and peaceful about the morning energy, and the light is just perfect. That said, we’re capturing your story, and it’s entirely up to you which part of your day, or moment in time you’d like to document.
